Devastating fire consumes well-known Red Hook art warehouse.

On September 17, 2025, four days after the opening of an exceptional art exhibition in Red Hook, Brooklyn, with the collaboration of the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition, the warehouse was unfortunately engulfed in flames. I came across this incident on my social media feed due to the distinctive windows in the warehouse. I was astounded to witness flames engulfing the magnificent building I had just entered. The circumstances surrounding this incident are puzzling, and we needed to urgently determine the potential consequences for our artwork and the structure. A devastating 5-alarm fire engulfed a furniture design studio, a motorcycle shop, and an audio store, destroying hundreds of artworks in the process.

After several weeks, the artists were permitted to visit the site, as our work had been spared by the fire. While some artistic works were destroyed or damaged by water, others endured without sustaining significant harm. I am grateful to say that my work survived the fire and water damage and is now part of New York City History. The Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition has established a GoFundMe campaign to assist in the reconstruction of the lost property. Please help restore this historic Brooklyn warehouse.
