Prida’s Annual Artisan Holiday Market

Since 2006 The Puerto Rican Institute for the Development of the Arts, (PRIDA) has been dedicated to preserving and promoting Puerto Rican artists and their art.

Prida’s Annual Artisans Holiday Market presented fantastic artwork and inspiring books for sale.  The market was held at the amazing Artspace, an arts facility with 89 units of affordable live/work space for creatives on 99th Street in East Harlem. This was my second year participating as a Prida artist and vendor. On December 14th, 2024, Prida Artists could sell, promote, network, and enjoy the Christmas festivities from 12-6 pm. Here are some photos of the 2023 and 2024 Holiday Market. #WeArePrida

I met Jinae and Cristian at this year’s PRIDA Annual Artisan Holiday Market. Jinae purchased the Arturo Schomburg orange t-shirt about two hours before the market closed. Cristian bought his Schomburg tee in red as I packed up to go home. It was fantastic to meet them both as we shared great conversations and good vibes. Later that night, Jinae and Cristian meet up with Bombayo at BarrioBX, and to their surprise, they both show up wearing the Schomburg shirt purchased at the Prida Holiday Market. What a wonderful way to support local artists while enjoying the Christmas festivities with family and friends! I had to share this story because it demonstrates how our community supports one another. Feliz Navidad.
